How do you know if your vehicle needs an oil change?
Check your oil at least once a month to ensure your car’s not leaking or burning oil. If the level is low, add oil. Good oil should be a clear brown-black colour, however that is not the only indicator of oil life. If the oil is murky or opaque, it might be time for a change, and if it’s milky, your engine may be leaking coolant so you really have to call us and get this inspected.
You have probably heard that you should change your car oil every 3000 miles or every 10000. It can be confusing, but it really depends on what kind of oil you use, and your driving style. Nowadays most cars are running on synthetic oil. This is a more expensive oil but will allow you to drive more miles between car oil and filter changes or full services.
Generally if your car is using a synthetic oil and you are driving sensibly, you should be able to do between 8000 to 10000 miles.
On the other hand if you are using cheaper and non-synthetic oil you are probably better of changing it every 5000 miles.
